Just trim the stock gasket, it'll work the same....

 

Bruce is right... Many dealers will trim the originals 'cause it's easier than ordering the part.

If you're deadset on ordering the part, then ask your dealer for _TRD_ part number (not "Toyota" part number): 00602-17620-032.

That number is what's listed in the 3.4L S/C install manual which is where this O gasket started it's life.

Yeup, very easy.

Pull the airbox, pull the intake tube, pull the TB (watch for the vacuum hoses!), pull the gasket and then...

....either trim out the flat side of the "D" or replace it with a round one.

Put the TB back on, (don't forget the vacuum hose that's UNDER the TB!), then the intake tube and the air box.

I think all the bolts are 10mm.

A couple of points:

• If you trim the gasket, then be sure that you don't leave any "almost cut" pieces hanging off that could get sucked into the engine.
• Make sure you put the gasket on right. Since the studs on the manifold are in a square pattern, It can go on 4 different ways. Two of them "look" right, only one _IS_ right.
• That vacuum line that runs under the TB has caught a LOT of people. If you don't put it back on, the engine will run kinda' weird and you'll have a loud whilsting.

Yes... I know about the last two points from personal experience.

If you've done it once, it'll take about 10 minutes to do. If this is your first time, then you're looking at about 40-45 minutes 'cause you'll be trying to be real gentle with stuff.

After I wrote that I looked at your sig. Given that you've done the deckplate and ISR, this will be pretty easy.

There's nothing really to foul up - just watch as to how it comes apart.


Know that you won't be getting a feeling of "wow that new horsepower really kicked me in the butt!" out of doing this. It's one of those things that falls under the category of "every little bit helps" and "it can't hurt".

In the S/C install instructions TRD makes the claim that using the original D gasket will _lose_ 1.5lbs of boost. Personally, I'd bet they're pushing it a bit. So in a N/A engine, I'd expect even less of a difference.

But, if you're trimming the orignal gasket, it's a 100% free mod, so you might as well.
