In a constant struggle with the terrible spring weather here in Washington, i finally bought an canopy so i can stay semi-dry while not having to work around the rain. Also moved it back around front to swap motors.
I had the majority of my tools stolen out of the back of my truck while i went to the store, so that put a bit of a damper on things as well.
Wiring harness is out. some of those transmission connections are a real PITA to get off.
Edit** does anyone have any tricks or tips for unbolting the transmission? Its a super tight squeeze but I managed to get the 3 drivers side bolts off with a stupid amount of extensions and a swivel, but that method doesn't seem to be working for the passenger side.

Picked up my injectors from WitchHunter today, good thing i took them in! Really cool setup hes got going, and he had them ready in less than 24 hours. Heres the flow chart.
The motor is unbolted and ready to come out, but i called it quits after I lost daylight and dropped a flashlight on my face. The PO said the motor siezed on his which is odd because the crankshaft spins just fine, who knows?

Engines Out!
Finally hoisted the piece out today, feels good to finally see a noticeable difference now.
Empty Engine bay. Going to crawl around in there and make it all nice and shiny when it stops snowing. Yes snow in seattle; in March... Also contemplating doing my steering rack bushings as well. Probably well overdue after 200k right?
Doing this alone made it a bit difficult to set the motor down, and as you can see it got away from me and ended up like this.
I guess i know which flywheel im not using.
I will be selling the old motor shortly^ it spins normally and the crank/cams/valvetrain seem to be just fine. If anyone is interested let me know, i wont be asking much.

A bit of progress tonight. Got the injectors in, wiring harness on, oil cooler, motor mounts, and the manifold back in place. Also swapped over a most of the hoses. After a couple beers i decided to stop playing the "does this fit here?" game and will pick it back up tomorrow.

depends. This one was from Japan and cost me $2,200 as a longblock no harness or ecu, but it only had 50k miles. Call DC at nix99 i know they have a couple over there.

Oil Pans... Idiot!
Im not sure where my brain has been, but i completely neglected the fact that I left the 2wd pan installed in the new motor... I was looking for points to hook up the load equalizer getting ready to put her back in when I finally noticed.
2WD pans have the sump in the rear which wouldnt have worked so well with the front diff. Tomorrow its time to swap pans/pickup tubes! My last endeavor with FIPG left my hands and arms stained black for a week or so, lets see if i can do it right now that its on a stand.
Pretty dirty in there, the pickup tube screen was almost completely covered in goo...

Ready
Just in case me and Vitaly arent the only people still following this, i swapped over the oil pans today and she is ready to go in tomorrow morning.
I havent flushed the heater cores and plan on hooking the rear heater hoses to eachother to eliminate the heater and any possibility of debris going in the block.
Is this ok? It would only be temporary until i get them flushed.
