Not downshifting with cruise control???

I was using the cruise control this weekend and after a while it would stop down shifting when it needed to going up hills. The gas was floored and it was losing speed. After turning the cruise off, and keeping the gas floored manually it would down shift like normal. It seemed to stop down shifting on hills after any change in speed, and I would hit "resume" to get back to my set speed. After turning the cruise off and back on again it would downshift like normal again until I had to use "resume" again. Anyone else experience this problem or any ideas what might be causing this??
Thanks in advance

Check your cruise cable at the throttle body first. If it is too loose, it will not be floored "enough" to kick down into 2nd gear. Also, run the rig in ECT PWR if you aren't already. Let's start there...

From: 100 miles offshore as much as possible, & Springfield Oregon USA
Also, the actuator and potentiometers in the servo get hot and lose their ability to hold full throttle - pretty typical.

hmm I was driving around in west VA this weekend, and my truck would downshift to 3rd no worries but if it ever had to go lower IE 2nd it would just kick out before shifting that low.

It should also be noted that if the MPH drops enough, the stinking CC will shut off completely. Going up a hill and being tail-gated makes this kind of interesting...

(probably not the poster's problem, but worth mentioning)
