No Lubricant = squealing?

Well, most of you probably read my thread on the squeaking noise coming from my truck...i've posted a few times about it, but noone answered If someone can help me out, even with just an idea, I'd appreciate it....
Here's the problem: When accelerating to 50 and letting off the gas, my truck makes a hideous squealing noise from the center of the truck somewhere (underneath). I know its not from the engine compartment. Well, as it turns out, this noise is ten times worse after it rains and my truck is wet, so I think it may have to do with lubrication. Someone told me that it may be my driveshaft? I took it to the dealer and the truck wouldnt make the noise with them in the car (go figure), so they're out of the question. Any ideas, anyone?

Just need some preliminary info:

1. How many miles on your truck?

2. Have you had it serviced recently and had the propeller shaft re-tourqued and re-lubed?

3. Are you the original owner (for maint. history)

This will help us out in diagnosing your squeal.

I have automatic transmission
I bought the truck used with 64,000 miles on it , it now has 66,500
I bought it from a Toyota dealership, so it was certified
It had only one owner before me, and he leased it...I ran a carfax and it had no problems at all.
I havent had it serviced for anything yet, well...just for new spark plugs, fuel filter, and coolant. Other than that, nothing else has been done to her.

woohoo!

Well I took her to Oilstop today and had them grease the drivetrain for me, and the problem appears to be gone. I feel kinda stupid now, I was freakin out about this problem for a month, had the truck at the dealer for 3 days, and it turned out it was only a lubrication issue that cost me 8 bucks to take care of.
Oh well, live and learn I suppose

Thanks for the replies guys!

Ha! Turns out your driveshaft needs lubricating all along. Goes to show those damn dealer mechanics don't know s&@t!!!! I had the exact same problem and the dealer said the squealing noise was the supercharger. What a bunch of morons!!! Oh well, I'm just to blame as well for even thinking they could diagnose anything worth a damn and then spending $172 for them to tell me it was the supercharger even though it's not!!! Lesson learned: "Don't ever let the dealer fix your truck!!!!"

Glad to hear your problem was fixed!

Now for the next time, buy yourself a grease gun and do that all yourself. I grease my driveline everytime I change the oil....never seem to have any problems!

Do you really need a gun to apply grease?

What type of grease are you supposed to use?

Thanks!

Grease

Do you really need a gun to apply grease?

You absolutely have to have a grease gun for greasing suspension and driveline lube points. The grease is forced into the Zerk fitting under pressure by the gun.

Toyota calls for NGLI 2 lithium-based grease. IMHO, the addition of moly disulfide (MO2S, a dry, powdered lubricant) to the grease is good. Synthetic greases such as Valvoline or Mobil 1 are better still, and synthetic plus MO2S is the best.
