95 Tacoma sx 4x4 with 2.7 and manual 5speed
was making a 160 mile round trip and made a stop about 25 miles into trip. Got back on road and truck was running a little rough, knock/miss at higher rpm’s.
Completed my trip a little nervously
my cel was on so hooked up scanner and got no DTC
pulled plugs and found all 4 carbon fouled. It has been a couple years so replaced with new ngk’s that I have been running for 15+ years. Same issue
drove to work for the week , and changed plug wires, dist. cap and rotor with still no change
Still had cel but no DTC.
warmed up truck, pulled all plugs again and checked compression. Way high on all 4 at 210-217
vacume tested at power steering port
at idle 18
at around 2200 rpm’s it fluctuated between 8 - 10
to me, being old school, this would lead to a restricted exhaust, but this no code and constant CEL has me second guessing
my plans to go after cat & distributor.
