NOS Stands for Nitrous Oxide Systems, a daughter company of performance giant Holley.

Its Nitrous Oxide, otherwise known as its chemical composition, N2O. It became known as "naws" in general because of that stupid movie that shall not be named, and all the ricers wanting to be cool.

Check the links I posted in message #19 on the first page of the thread.

Sure it'll work...

It's slang... Nitrous Oxide, Nitrous, NOS, N20, NOX, "gas", "bottle"... Some of the slang is specific to East/West coast.

Okay people this has got to stop.
Leave the flaming for somewhere else. This guy asked a legitimate question and you guys are getting into an argument about how to pronounce it? Might as well start arguing if it's pronounced Porsh versus Por-shuh

and we'll probably be running a 50 shot, maybe a 75 every now and then, when i feel the need to. even though i'll have to switch out the nozzles.

ok to add another of my .02 cents
has anyone ever put nitrous in their truck? nope Mine is S/C now

and has anyone ever raced a truck, raced many times i work at a drag strip my truck will do 16.83 in the quarter at 80 something, dont have the slips with me at the 'puter, runs out of fuel at about 1000' and falls on its face

used their truck to race? see above fun to do but it is my daily driver and i can t afford to break or fix it.

as far as NOS killing an engine I see more intake pops than anything else most systems are user friendly and pretty safe now not to say that they cant and wont kill a motor it just takes alot of trying I would say this year I saw probably 10 to one pops versus dead motors from nos. probably the best dead motor this year was a newer chevy diesel with all the goodies compounded turbos, propane, nos, water inj, blah blah blah burped while on the converter (powerbraking) and spewed the biggest cloud of white /grey smoke for the whole track all the while popping and clattering like an old antique tractor. broke 2 cylinder liners and knocked a chunk out of the block when the piston broke

nos will smoke a motor fast but you have to run it lean, and most guys will lift before the motor gets toasted. now these are racer guys. the average dude would probaly hold it to the floor and let er rip POW!!!

adding a 50 shot to a 100 hp motor chances the motor is not going to last long
good luck i see you are in colorado bring it to the track in april/may and see what it can do. this year at truck day i saw a 4rnr that ORS transplanted a s/c 3.4 into and it picked up the drivers front tire when he shifted from 1st to 2nd

sweet. that's awesome. as far as bringing out my truck, we'll see. i'm thinking of either trading it in or selling it for a subaru wrx, or i will have two vehicles. i like the idea of two vehicles, but money is the main object there, insurance. and do you know of any dynos in colo metalhed?

Right... and most of the guys that want to run NOS don't "get it" and will just hook up the bottle and the hose and the button and go. They won't bother to do the research about how NOS works in the first place. If they did, they would understand that they need to turn up the fuel mixture long before they hit the button.

More power to 'em... Just be sure to post pictures.

Why not run Dual Stage (Which could technically be tri stage) with 2 nozzles, 2 fuel solenoids, 2 nitrous solenoids, seperate arming switches, and a T on the Nitrous line fromt he bottle.

Arm one stage you have a 50 shot. Disarmt he first, arm the second, and you have a 75 shot. Arm both, you have a 125 shot.

I think you're polishing a turd -- at the end of the day you're still going to have a piece of crap at the track. IMO, you'd be way better off saving your money putting it into something that's be better for racing.

not sure that i agree with you n20 kits are not that much and he is not really building the truck up that much. sounds like its more for fun than anything.
