new u joints and im still vibrating in the rear end!

new u joints and im still vibrating in the rear end!

hey guys, noticed a vibration at speeds of 60-70 mph about a week ago, so i toss it around with a few friends of mine and they seem to think its u joints. so i take it to the dealer and they check it out and say the u joint in the rear is bad and i should replace both the front and rear u joints and i say ok, picked the 4r up this morn and it did ride alot better with the new u joints but at 60-70 mph i start to feel vibration in the rear end. i feel no vibration in the steering wheel or the front end, just the rear. and it also makes a nobby tire sound in the rear sometime to, where should i go from here to solve this problem?

If your having the death wobble at only a specific speed, then it is tire related. If you have a constant death wobble at all speeds and you can feel it in the steering wheel then it is driveline related. Have you rotated and rebalanced your tires lately?

had the tires rotated and balanced about 15k ago, so im due for a tire rotation, probably do that in the morn and go from there

mechanic looked at the rear end yesterday and it looked fine, so i had him rotate the tires, and sure enough, the vibration moved to the front, having the tires balanced monday morning on the road force balancing machine at the dealer, hopefully this fixes my vibration problem..

Typically check tire balance first, then other stuff if you got vibrations. It is the most common and easiest to fix or rule out.

all that does is counterbalance the heaviest part of the tire to the heaviest part of the rim making it as centrifugally balanced as possible. you still got to balance the pair afterwards.
