If you are just talking about longevity of a Toy, then yahoo, you are right on. If you are talking wheeling performance, "on the mountain" or the "black diamonds" then I would be flying past the 2004 Runner in a Rubicon.
FWIW right around May of 2000, I took my bone-stock Tundra (when I had it) and pulled a locked, geared, lifted, M/T'd "trail truck" SIDEWAYS up the side of a mine tailing pit the driver managed to bury himself in. My truck didn't even hint that it might not be up to the task...

I've seen guys on stock rigs make their way up trails that people with lockers and the rest couldn't/wouldn't (typically the TLC bunch, I really wish I still owned my 76 FJ40). Don't discount driver ability in that, Rubicon or not. And let's not forget (not to bash another make here, but...) it's still a Jeep. It'll drive great until it breaks.

As for stickers ... I kinda like the "Mountain Rated" one even if it is a ripoff of the jeepers. But I'm still reading the remaining 4 pages of this thread, maybe a better one will pop up in there somewhere...

Could we possibly flip Mountain Rated around to be Mountain Proven or Mountain Tough? That might not copy the Jeepers so much...

if toyota USA had the balls, they'd be selling us trucks that 3rd world contries get.

solid axles, turbo diesels...

but instead, we get awd stations like the highlanders, land cruisers with IFS...
