New Tires and Wheels, finally...

well, almost. after searching forever to find h2 takeoffs and finding only people that wanted to sell used sets for near retail prices and not being happy enough with my last set of BFG All-Terrains to spend $220 a tire on them i decided to stick with 16" wheels. (BFG is the only company that makes a 315/70/17). so called up discount tire today and had them order me up some......

and some....

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...08&rd=16&ar=75

i was going to go with the yoko's as i want a much more road friendly tire (than my current trxus) this time around with as many highway miles as my 4runner sees but these were only $162 a piece for 315/75/16's mounted/balanced/free lifetime rotation/balancing. the yoko's were over $200 a piece.

anyway, they will be here in the next week or so and then i will see what i need to do to fit them, the wheels i ordered are around 4.25" backspacing, i will see how much grinding my upper arm needs or i may end up with some other uppers as my upper ball joints are shot anyway. i have the 2" bodylift still sitting in the garage, it will most likely go on soon now too, along with the 5.29's and ARB's. i have been putting off the installation of these because i wasn't sure if i was going to keep the 4runner or not, i made up my mind today, at least for now.

and....the best part is...i fixed my starter contacts today (replaced contacts) so it finally cranks the first time, every time. i hated getting random looks from people when my starter kept clicking and clicking before i could finally get it to start.

thanks, i decided to go with these rims instead of the tundras for a few reasons...

1) i haven't seen these on a 4runner
2) tire availability and cost
3) no wheel spacers....

it should be nice, i am excited!

i figure these will last me until i finish school, hopefully get another car, and decide what i am going to do with the 4runner. now that i have a son, granted he is only 1 month, i really want to have a good all around family, camping, expedition type vehicle. i would love to find a way to make the tires fit without the body lift, my wife already complains that it is too high...we'll see what happens when they get here.

well they finally came in today...they are big!!!

the guys at discount tire told me that they would be close to 4.25 backspacing...they are closer to 4.75" so that is going to create some problems, will most likely have to get some upper a-arms now. (not entirely bad, i need new ball joints and an alignment anyway).

they will make it on soon enough, got trimming, bodylift, and differentials to do.

315's on an 8" wheel, man those things will be bulging. How bouncy is the ride?
