I'm putting in the reman engine, and they call for a new oil cooler. Is this really needed? The only place I can find one is at the d(st)ealer. They want $567.00 for one, and I'd have to order it!! As far as I could tell, the old one worked fine. Need your advice on this one guys. It could void the warrenty by doing this. But within 2 years the warrenty would be void anyways...HELP!!

What year? Engine? I'm putting one in but it's a remote mount unit with fan and tstat

 

I replaced my 3.0L engine last July and Orient engine suggested a new oil cooler. I washed my old one with gasoline and blew it with compressed air.
I re-used mine without any problems - I don't know how it would effect the warranty or how they would find out. I say wash your old one and get on with life. I did replace the rubber hoses on the oil cooler.
