New Member! a few questions! :)

Hello everyone! I am new to the forums, but not new to toyota's. this is my 2nd 4runner, and I am a past Supra tt owner. My current 4runner is a '00 Highlander 4wd, which I will attach some pics soon. I already ordered the SC, and it should be here Monday! wOOT! But, I do plan on towing with it, so obviously I need to get a tranny cooler, but do you guys reccommend the TRD cooler, or can I save some $$ and just get a big trans cooler from a local performance shop? Just seems like they (TRD)cost alot, and they look just like what you can buy anywhere?! Also, is there anything else I should look into that might save other components? I do plan on ordering the headers and exhaust, but that is gonna have to wait until after christmas!

Also, if anyone needs any help, I am very knowledgeable in 12v audio and security/alarms/autostarts.

Hello, and welcome to the forums here.
In our Tech section are a couple of write-ups on installing tranny coolers.

One is the TRD unit, the other one is another brand which should save you some money over the TRD unit.

Also look in our vendor section for Mike's site "Xtreme Off-Road" for gear such as bumpers, sliderz, ect, and look for Jason's link for interior and exterior add ons.

Mike often has group buys on stuff for the members here.

Cool

Welcome to the forum!
I suggest you get a Hayden Tranny cooler . It is the same make as the TRD version. I purchased the one rated for 30K lbs.

Nice 4Runner by the way

Hey, thanks guys for the info! I am pretty sure I can install it, just not sure which to get. I will look at that hayden unit right now.

I have read a bit about it surging under partial throttle with the SC, can you correct this, and is it really that bad?

Thanks again!

Wow, that hayden unit looks like it blows away the TRD I like that "for class A motorhomes" , that definately inspires confidence.

beautiful truck btw...

So far, I've found the trans cooler I"m going to use, and the "free fmu" mod, but does anyone know how to disable the speed limiter/governor?

I am not really an expert on this, but I think you will need a new ECU to disable the speed limiter (for a '96-'98), I am not sure if it is the same case for your '00.
Any expert advise Jay?

Hey thx Beo...

Is there a "chip" for the 4runners? If so, that might eliminate the speed cut?
