Question ? New intake ?

Ok, it seems that the intake on my truck is being monitored by the air flow sensor and ECU. What would happen if I replaced it with a universal intake that consists of just a pipe and filter? The pipe runs straight to the throttle intake and the other end has the filter on it. What would happen? Thanks.

Without the ECU, MAF or AFM your engine would run lean or rich and also may encounter a host of other problems.

i dont know about your 86, but my 2.7L doesnt run without the MAF. I bumped it off once when i was wrenching, and the engine killed. i think the ecu needs an airflow signal at least.

what are you doing? are you talking about making a chromed tube or something? a s/c will have all its own intake plumbing with a built in provision for the sensor... as will an aftermarket intake system.. if you are making you just need to reuse the sensor....
