Well I've made it back to owning a 4Runner and this time I am going to get into modifying it some. I had a '99 LTD 4WD but my ex g/f got it. Then I had a 2003 LandCruiser but traded it for a new BMW M3. Now I am sick of car payments so I bought my latest ride, and I am keeping for a long long time!

So you got the nav working?? My friend just got an 05 with the nav and now I want it so bad! Either that or the kenwood unit... Do you mind me asking what you paid?

No not yet.. is says proposed mod #1.... As soon as they're available I am going to order one. Usually about every 2 weeks. I've been in contact w/ a few people from t4r.org about it. It's quite simple to do apparently, plugs right into the stock AMP and then just a reverse and speed sensor wire need to be tapped. Some modification to the trip is required to fit the screen, but for the most part it is plug & play. The new NAV unit are $1600.. OEM Toyota part.

That nav is sweet, but $1600? DAMN!

I give the S/C two thumbs up whole-heartedly. One of the best mods I've ever done.

I wonder how bad a wrong speed signal will mess with the nav? Ive got better tires so the speedo is lower than the actual... hmmm...

 

Nice ride, I especially like the color...it reminds me of a stock 4Runner I used to know.

If I do the S/C is it better to go all out and do the Cold Air Intake, S/C, 7th Injector, and Exhaust all at the same time?

 

Yes it has a locker on it.... I guess who ever bought it was pretty big on getting all options. 28k miles for a 2000 I was sooooo happy to find it! Most of the 2k's I found had 60k+ miles on them!

 

If you want a little more power (~50 hp), then the S/C is fine. If you want a kick in the pants (~80+ hp), then skip the 7th Kit and install a URD kit from URD-USA. I would stay away from any aftermarket intakes. Exhaust is up to you, but unless you're taking it to the drag strip, you'll be more than pleased with the SC and URD kit. If you want more of a growl, then check out Magnaflow for a replacement muffler. Headers are nice, but not necessary and only give marginal gains compared with the S/C and URD kit.

 

I agree with Andy on this.
URD will kick the crap out of the 7th injector! Just do the deckplate mod instead of an intake. Exhaust, I just threw in a Flowmaster 60 series.

 

I'd also suggest a Hayden 1678 Transmission Cooler. ~$50 worth of insurance that will keep your transmission fluid in optimal condition (less heat degradation) and it's very easy to install.

Looks like these guys are taking care of you... Thats exactly what I'm going to do when I jump into that department. Another vote to skip anything TRD except for the actual S/C. I love my dynomax muffler. Between it and the deckplace/isr mods my truck screams. But, only at WOT which is perfect. As for the tranny cooler, just head down to your local autoparts store, advanced, auto zone whatever... and they will most likely have an assortment of coolers, sizes... whatever you want to spend... mine was $35 I believe...
