new differential gears breaking-in

Hi, Is there a breaking-in procedure that needs to be done if new differential gears are installed? is there a need for a special oil to be used? Thanks!

Yes very important to not over heat the gears. When new, the gear mating surfaces are rough and heat up quicky. If they get too hot it ruins the heat treatment of the gears and they will then wear out faster. I also change the oil often during the break-in.
