I've been researching spacer lift kits for a while now for my 2002 T4R. Since it's time for new shocks, I'm doing it all at the same time. Ran into a brand new product that looks really sweet. It's a 2-1/2" spacer lift kit from Prothane that fits 1996-2002 Runners and Tacos, both 2 and 4wd. The best part is the price...the whole kit runs $150 bucks!!!

So here's what my new setup will be: Rancho RS5000 series shocks all around and the Prothane spacer lift. I'll be out the door for well under $400, minus installation!! still just 265/75/16

for 285's youd need 3-4, i believe.

 

My stock tires are 265/70R 16's...was hoping to stuff something a little bigger under the fenders with the lift. Oh well...life goes on!

 

Without a body lift, you'd best stick to 265'ss unless you want to do major trimming and pounding. EricJeanna, on this board, has a 3rd gen with 33's and needed a body lift in addition to the 3 1/2" lift he got from his Downey coilovers to fit the M/T's.

 

I am in agreement with the 265/75 line of thinking. Not to worry though. I am running these tires with 3" of lift and it has done very well offroad. It looks way better than stock and bigger tires are only usefull if you can fully stuff them through the entire range of travel. THe rubbing issues will limit your articulation and becomes a real headache when you come to a difficult obstacle and are obsessing about hearing the tires chewing your fender flares to hell. I did add 1 1/4" wheel spacers to make them fill out the flares a bit better and give a wider stance and they look cool as a bonus.

Sweet truck ecchamberlin...mine will look about the same with 2-1/2" of lift I hope. I'll just stick to very agressive looking stock size tires because I won't begin to do major mods just to fit bigger tires. Love the look of the spaced out tires too!

I'm going with Rancho RS5000 shocks...anybody have experience with them. Are they any good?
