New Car New Life

hello, first post here. I just got my first 4runner. About two years ago when I crashed my camaro I was looking to buy a 4runner, but I was forced into buying a VeeDub and now finnally I was able to get rid of the ˟˟˟˟box and get my 4runner.

I just purchased a 93 3.0L SR5 4WD A/T. Im starting to look into some mods and I am pretty sure I know what I want to start with and I need some advice on where to get stuff and prices. I work as a mechanic during the summer while I am out of school, so any thing I can probably tackle. I want to start to go off-roading ASAP, and enjoy the 4WD.

1) Body Lift kit - I want to get body lift cause its cheap and easy but I can only go with 2" inch lift cause anything higher my state deems it illegal. Do I need to make any linkage mods to accomidate the 2inch lift?

2) Light bar - I want a roof mounted set of lights about 4 and I of course dont want to pay and arm and a leg.

3) Sway Bar Disconnects - I heard lars makes some nice ones and I was wondering what is his website and how much did poeple pay.

4) Exhaust - I was thinking of dual tips with a nice grumble but not loud- yes i know very picky, anyone have custom or premade kits?

Any advice will be very apreciated. Any other suggestions would be cool too.

-Terrizzi

Welcome Newbie! Another 93 owner - sweet!

1) Body Lifts

2) Might as well get a roof rack while you are at it and mount the lights to that. Looks at Surco, Con Ferr, Yakima, Thule, etc. They all make tabs for mounting lights. See Corey's Site for ideas.

3) Try Firefyter-emt for discos. I think they are more readily available from him.

4) There are alot of ways to go for exhaust. I did a Borla cat-back in stainless since I am in the rust belt like you. Others have used Flowmaster, Dynomax, and a couple of others. Search "exhaust" for lots of ideas.

Are you referring to the factory rack? If so, take a look at the ones I mentioned. They have a better capacity than the factory model and look alot better too.

This board is really heavy during the week during the day for the most part. Weekday evenings are hopping usually too. This board has grown alot since I joined - only been around for about 13 months now - people are still finding us.
