I went to the auto parts store and got 2 new front wiper blades. They didn't have anything for the back window (even though they have ones for hatchbacks, etc.). Anyways I ordered the rear blade from Performance Products, and even though it is the right size (13") it doesn't appear to have the right mount. It has a multi mount that sort of works, but doesn't use the metal bumper to hold it off the window (the thing with two screws). Is the only place to get a new wiper blade from the dealer? Such a dumb question I know, but I can't find anything (used search) . Uggh.

 

The only place I could find one for my 01 that fitted properly was the dealer. They only wanted $13 for it, not too bad.

 

same here, not dice with napa, autozone or advance auto, ended up with dealer

 

Yeah, same here, the rear is unique and you can only get the wiper at the dealer, and they are not too expensive either.

Just make sure not to use the extra little metal piece that comes with it, because the wiper won't work right if you put it in.

 

you should have gotten the refills for the front at the dealer too.

they're the best you can get - seriously.

 

Yeah, those ones they sell at Autozone like Bosch and whatever give up too fast. The only good ones I heard of lasting long are PIAA and OEM

 

I just recently replaced all three, and w/ the back I bought the cheapest one I could find and just took the rubber blade off the new one and inserted into the stock holder. Most rubber blades will fit in all holders. The back doesn't get used that much, so I don't see the need for a pricey one.

I've managed well by taking a refill in a larger size which has a hard plastic rail holding the runner blade, cutting it to the correct length (approx. 13") and melting the slot for the blade closed on the cut-end using a soldering iron to prevent the blade from slipping out of the channnel. It's worked well for me for over 13 years on both my '90 and '00 4Runners.

Never could understand why people wanna replace the assembly when all they need is the blade...

These guys had it for like $5.87 ($10 shipping though). It was under liftgate. They also had the rest of the arm and all the other little things if they need to be replaced (mine already has a little paint bubble [rust] on it).
