Neutral starter switch???

So I just got my 86 4runner last week. A used engine was just installed. The truck ran fine till yesterday, when I needed to move my truck. being lazy, I decided to put it in neutral and push it the 3-4 feet. (auto tranny). Then, later that day, it wouldn't start. I don't get the click or anything. The battery is new and all the lights and etc come on when I turn the key.

I did some research and thought that it might be a loose wire to the starter (I've read it's a common problem). Those seemed to be fine. Then thought it might be the neutral starter switch. Out of curiousity, I decided to put the car in DRIVE and put it a foot. I then put it in NEUTRAL.. and it started. I turned it off, and put it in PARK.. nothing. Did the same procedure and it worked. Is that the Neutral Starter Switch. Does that need to be replaced. Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance

the fact that it worked at all, either means its failing or that the adjustment isnt right and it isnt sensing what gear it is actually in...

Thanks, I'll try to adjust it in the morning. If still a problem, I'll replace it. BTW, is it hard to replace? (just curious)

There is an adjustment for this part. Make sure it is not just out of adjustment before replacing it because the part is rather pricey. I paid $135 for the start switch from O'Reilly. It wasn't hard to replace at all.
