Need URGENT help with gearing??

I'm highly considering purchasing an 02 4wd Runner this weekend and just got the axle code tonight. Its A03A. If this is true then that means the gears are 138mm, 3.55's right?? Not sure what the last A stands for. The rig has factory 16's with 265/70 tires. Can this be the right gear ratio or am I not looking at something right. If this is true then its probably a deal breaker. Please let me know asap so I can call the deal off if I have too. Thanks in advance. WM

Wink 4.10's = Standard

I thought that 3.55 sounded weird. The code on http://www.brian894x4.com/Gearratiosanddiffs.html shows it's 4.10's 2 pinion open diff- an '02? this sounds like the beginning of something fun...Good Luck!

Thanks guys, Man I was about to flip! I finally found a decent rig and hope to god it doesn't have that gearing. So theres no way possible it came with that gearing correct??

Yeah, should be an excellent build! I'll start a thread when I get it this weekend.

If it has an e-locker it will have 4:30's. No locker = 4:10's.

Rocket's right...And '01 & '02s did not come with e-lockers, so the '02 4wd v6 auto 4Runner you're looking at, without a doubt, has 4.10 gearing.

3.55 is too low a numerical value for gearing on a 4wd v6 4Runner for any year model. 3.90 was a gear option, but not on 4wd v6 autos.

Thanks Slide. Yeah, wish it had an E-Locker but oh well. Would probably never need it anyways! Just as long as it doesn't have anything lower than 4.10's
