NEED HELP 2nd gens with rear wing

My 2nd gen runner does not have the factory rear wing. I got a wing from the junkyard. While i was there i forgot to get measurement. If anyone can help me out with measurements on the proper location of the rear wing. Side to side from a fixed point and front to back from a fixed point.

Thanx in advance for your help

I just measured mine, in the dark with a flashlight, but it should get you close.
The bottom of the brackets are at the top of the rear window moulding. In other words, where the black strip and paint meet.
Horizontally, the brackets themselves are 5" in from where the rear window curves down. It appears that the wiper assembly is centered, so you can use that as a reference point.
Good luck and measure a few times before drilling

I measured to get the center of the wing and then lined that up with the wiper arm. Like golden said, the brackets mount just above the rear window moulding where it meets the paint.

Holy crap...that's hilarious b/c that's what I did late this afternoon!

Actually I'm in the process of decrhoming my whole truck. And the wiper arms, while not chrome, were starting to show their age. They look SO MUCH better. But the real goal of the job was to prime/paint the side view mirrors. I must say, it looks GREAT! The upper grill is done...may do the valance tomorrow. I'll post a thread with pics...

Tomorrow, I'll probably do the chrome trim around the windshield black. Then powdercoat the bumpers.

Anyhoo, if you still need more accurate measurements of the rear wing, let me know (PM me) and I can get you what you need if anyone else can't/doesn't. My wing is painted black too...it was black already, but was starting to show its age, too.

So let me know...

Mount the brackets on the wing and hold the assembly up where the brackets just touch the black strip. Center it up, mark it and drill. I have a nut-sert tool if you want to go that route (inch not metric though)

I have one that I want to put on my rig as well. How are you attaching it? The dealer looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if there was a mount kit for it.

Is there any real purpose for the rear wing or is it stricly cosmetic?

Thanks for the pics Cebby that helps me out. That nut-sert tool does that insert a threaded sleve into the roof like a pop rivet gun. If so i might headed over to your house sometime soon.

Ill be posting pics of the wiper arms soon Im waiting for the paint to dry.

Yes it does. I have a bunch of inserts that are 10/24. It has the mandrels for 8/32, 10/24, and 10/32. I have two 10/24 (I broke one previously and bought two)

You are welcome to it. I'll throw it in my car and can meet up with you somewhere unless you want some help putting the wing on. I'd be happy to help.
