need help!

yo, getting new subs and stuff.... my amp is a jbl 1200.1.... 1200 watts on my 2000 4Runner.... ill be running 2 subs at abt 500rms... u think ill need a new battery or an alternator? also, how do i go about taking apart the doors to put new speakers in? is it do-able by me, or should i let the car stereo place do it? also are the tweeters hard to replace? the front speakers are 6.5" i know, but diff place say diff things abt the back ones... what are they? 4" or 5.25"???

Hello, welcome to the forums.
If you look in our Tech section listed on the main page, there is an article on how to remove the door panels.
I say put your own in and save a few bucks over a shop.

As far as a battery, I am running an Optima clone with the side terminal on it for just the 4 guage wire to power my amps.

Not sure if you will need a new alternator or not. Landyacht posted this the otehr day on an alternator upgrade he did.
Not sure if it's as easy or not on the 3rd gens like you have.

There is a place online that sells hypo alternators for rigs with a demanding need. Here is the URL.

I think that you would be better off with a bigger and better battery, like the optima of the clone that Corey has. Also, maybe look into a farad cap. They help alot on the alternator and keep the head lights from dimming and all. Look into them! Goodluck. :fireman:

you should get a capicitator. That will help with you power problems
