Need a bit of wiring help.

Hey guys & girls,

I recently purchased the Subaru Guage Pack (see links below). And need a bit of wiring help.

http://www.scoobymods.com/showthread...151.html?t=151
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/s...runner-156996/

I have narrowed down which wire is which but need a little help regarding what they connect to.

B+ = obviously this is the positive 12V feed from the battery
Ground = obviously that ties to a clean spot on the truck
Illumination = don't know where to tie that in...
Ignition/ACC = don't know where to tie that in...
Speed = don't even know what that is
Temp + = to temp sensor
Temp - = to temp sensor

I see now the speed sensor is optional.

I would just PM the guy who did this (SolCalPaul) but he hasn't been online since 2010...

Yeah, it'd probably be tricky to get a speed signal to a different make electronic piece anyway, and probably impossible if this is for your '86 (cable speedo). Positive from the battery is likely for internal memory for a clock or something that draws constantly.

ACC/ign probably turns on the rest of the functions when you turn your ign on or drive, I would think you could just wire that to the key "on" position unless you want a compass when just sitting with the key on acc... Proabably tap into that behind the stereo, or directly off the ignition switch

Illumination, I would have thought would be from the acc/ign wire, don't know why they would want two switched power sources, but seems like that would turn on the LCD screen, therefore also coming from the key on power. Just my thoughts, good luck.

Hmm interesting take on it. I'm wiring this into my Tacoma not the 4Runner (I sold that). You think that the B+ is for something that is always on? I'm not the best with wiring...

Talking

your not the best with wiring!! Wow is that a understatement!!

Illumination goes to the light circuit.

Ignition switch to a power source that is powered with the key in the run position

temp plus goes to the temp gauge sending unit which would have to match the gauge or it won`t work. Source the temp sending unit for the gauge.

temp minus goes to ground

Make sure the negative battery cable is disconnected.
