NEED ADVICE: Found 3.4 for SWAP
OK,
I found a 3.4L engine from a 2000 toyota tacoma with 18,000 miles on it.
The guy wants $2100 for it. First of all is it a good price? And I'm pretty sure that it will fit my rig but I really don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes, it will bolt right up to your current motor mounts. i am going to do this swap also. i got a 1997 T100 2wd engine with 48,000 miles on it for $1000. this engine already has the oil dip stick in the correct location, so i don't have to drill.
my next step is to get an ecu. (anyone have one for sale for cheap?) i'm going to try to do the wiring myself.
here's a helpful link:

For reference I got a '97 engine w/ 50k for $1500 two years ago. I guess that price isnt bad considering the mileage - IF that is the TRUE mileage. Add the fact that you are in CA...it's a pretty good deal. But maybe not...Toyotas seem to be VERY plentiful out there.

ksurfer, i'll tell you, if your truck is an auto, you'd prob be better off swapping in a 5-speed b/c no one has made a harness to do the swap using the stock auto yet. I'm a collecting all of the stuff to do the swap too. If you have the 5-speed already, you've got it made.

Just found a very good condition Auto 3.4 L 5VZ with 127,000 miles for $750. Does anyone know if that's a good deal. So far I've looked at 3 engines and this one looks the best. Also, does anyone know about how much it costs to rebuild a 3.4? (parts and labor?)
Thanks!
Thanks!
