Mystery trans fluid leak

I just bought my new rig, a 1999 4R with a 5 speed manual in it. As soon as I got it home, I noticed it's slowly dripping transmission fluid. The transfer case is coated with fluid and it looks like the source is coming from the top of the trans, around where the gearshift meets the transmission. I read on a forum that sometimes the bolts on the selector shafts for the tranny and T-case sometimes come loose, but I tightened them and the leak still isnt stopping. Are there gaskets where the selector shafts connect to the tranny that could need replacing? Or is there something else on the top of the trans that could be dripping? Any advice offered would be appreciated,
Thanks a lot
