My "re-introduction"

I've been away from the board for a while. This place has gotten huge. Congrats to Corey and company!

Just picked this thing up about 2 weeks ago. It's a 5speed, v6, 4wd with 88k miles on the clock. I got a good deal on it and couldn't pass it up. Some of you know that I had a 96 Landcruiser after my 2nd Gen was wrecked. It went bye bye because of gas mileage. I then got a Dbl Cab Tacoma and a Tundra. Sold the Tundra to buy my wife a new ride and traded the Tacoma in on this. Here she is:

in Boone, NC for Thanksgiving

in Boone, NC again

my pregnant wife and the 4runner

in my driveway (Florida)

It's still stock right now. After my wife has the baby, I'll start removing the running boards, adding a 2.5-3" lift kit and probably a Surco roof rack with a few Hella lights that are sitting in my garage.

Thanks fellas. Yeah, they are new BFG's. They were on it when I bought it

The wife just wanted a Camry for some reason. I tried talking her into a Highlander or a Sequoia, but she wanted nothing to do with them. Oh well, it's her car, not mine. Plus, she'll probably be wanting a mini-van soon anyway!

She's about 6 months along now. Her due date is around the beginning of March. It's our first, so we are very excited. She really likes the idea of the 4runner hauling a baby around, rather than the Tacoma. It feels safer driving in the rain and rides a lot better also.

We will be in the same situation sooner than later I'm sure! FWIW, I did the ISR on the Camry. I got 2-1" pvc plugs from Home Depot and clamped them in place of the two silencers. It has a little growl now.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Tacoma, except that mine was a Prerunner, not 4wd. I like having the 4wd to be able to get up the mountains in North Carolina when we go up there. It was the only truck/SUV that I had bought without it and didn't think I would need it, until I got stuck halfway up the mountain in Boone last year. I would have traded it for a 4wd version, but got a great deal on the 4runner, so here I am.

The only other things I didn't particularly like about the Tacoma was in wet weather, having the back end feeling like it would slide out from underneath me around corners. It could have just been my imagination, but I feel better in the 4runner.

The Tacoma was very handy though. I enjoyed it and it had more room in the back than my access cab Tundra. Nothing could compete with the room I had in the Landcruiser FJ80 though. Well, maybe a Sequoia.
