A friend just quoted me $65 plus parts to replace the u-joints, pretty damn good.

Do yourself a favor and buy the greasable ones when you hit up o'rielys. and 65$ is amazing granted he knows what he's doing...

You are not going to be able to just replace the U-joint and be ok. You damaged the yoke. Looks to me like you need a new driveline.

The yoke can be replaced by a competent shop, but it might be cheaper & easier to source a replacement from a salvage yard.
