I little brother upgraded his 77'F100 to 12.5 BFG M/T and he had to go back to his 10.5 BFG AT this winter for he floated/slid across the top of the snow. Even in 4wd the light back end was horrible in the snow and noticeably worse in the rain. But he does great now in thick mud and gravel.

I have a set of these and I concurr.

 

Nokians are great. I had a set on on old Saab one time and it did better than any four wheel drive in the snow.

I still think the rear axle is the problem because today, for example, about 1 inch of new snow and just going around a 10mph corner caused the back end to kick out (I was in 4WD).

Then I was in a pile of snow made by the snowplows and went slow to get our and the back end just went sideways. Doesn't seem to matter which way the steering wheel is pointed, I always get sideways.

 

I was racing my friends evo8 down a local runway here when we had about 7-8" of snow. At 60 mph it was still pretty firm on the ground, 2wd of course. In 4wd it did amazing. I beat him everytime because he was sliding around way to much. This is on my BFG A/T KO's. He said I was throwing snow way to far up in the air for him to see very well cause it was blowing across his lane.

I think your tires are little wide for great snow driving. But the biggest thing was probably the type of snow it was. I've only had my BFG's in the snow twice and both times it was very very cold and new snow.

I heard the Revo's are really good in the snow so I wouldnt think it was the tires themselves. On fresh snow I can floor my truck in 4wd and not peel out, unless its icey.
