Talking My 4Runner is almost finished...PICS!

(THERE ARE A BUNCH OF BIG PICS, I FEEL BAD FOR DIAL UP USERS...SORRY, MY BAD)

I just wanted to show you guys some of the newest pics of my 4Runner...Some of you may have seen it before, or maybe not, but it used to be on 44" Boggers and was usually referred to as a "pretty show truck". Well, I have been rebuilding it for about a year and it should be done and ready to 4wheel in the next week. I'll be testing it at Paragon on 4/24 - 4/25. Here are some pics for ya. Be gentle.

Now remember, I still have some "stuff" to finish/change, etc...but I think you will notice the difference from then to now if you go to my website: HOMEPAGE and to my newest page: MOST RECENT PAGE

Now for the pics....

...after doing the spray-on-bedliner on the lower quarters:

I am planning on doing the hood, wiper cowl, window pillars, roof and cap in the same stuff...so basically every thing left on the body that is maroon.

...here is the front bumper "mock up". The real one will be completed tomorrow:

...front receiver for the detachable Warn XD9000i winch:

...and no, I don't have a 4" body lift...it's a long story........

...rear bumper almost finished, just needs the side hoops welded on and the mounts on the frame right behind the flares. (Don't mind the shackle angle, the truck is on the lift):

...and last one for now, the sliders:

So, that's it for now.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to e-mail me: GREG'S E-MAIL

And a HUGE thanks to Andrew at "4x4 Custom Adventure" in Ledgewood, NJ for all his help. Check his shop out here: 4x4CustomAdventure

Later.

Greg

PS: Anyone else going to the TTORA Takeover event at Paragon on May 24-25? Or to the EC4RJ'03 in June? Look for me there!!

Holy crap! I bet you can be seen from a mile away

You gotta get some pics of that beast in action at Paragon.
Any plans to send some pics to any magazines?

Nice truck, what do you have for a motor in it? I have a 85 I did the same thing to the body with the spray on bedliner, but I used the rattle can kind. It still worked pretty well.
Nice to see some Jersey folks here, I used to live in White Meadow Lake.

Thumbs up Thanks for the replies!

First I wanted to thank everyone who replied so far....

HaveBlue: I plan to get some action pics when we do a trial run at Paragon next week. Also, you asked about magazines...the truck had a full 3 page color feature in OffRoad back in '94 with the old IFS and 39.5's, but it's also been in Fourwheeler and Tough Truck magazine. OffRoad magazine did express interest in doing a follow-up story on it when I told them about a year and a half ago what my plans were. It's not everyday someone tears down a "show truck" to build into a wheeling truck, usually it's the other way around. I have documented much of the rebuild with pics, so when it's done, we'll see. At least I know that 4WD & Sport Utility magazine will be at the EC4RJ'03 at Paragon....so....hope it gets some coverage?

Obnoxio: I'm running the original 33k mile 3.0 V6 with DOA cams, port and polished heads and 3mm oversized t-body...along with Downey headers it's probably right around 200hp. Behind that is a Centerforce clutch and the dual Marlin t-cases with 2.28 gears in both cases (for now ) with a crawl ratio of 117:1. Reall, White Meadow Lake Rockaway...minutes from me!!

Thanks again guys, and I will post more pics when I take them.

Later.

Dude, your truck is pretty badass, but are you really prepared to scratch that paintjob? Are you ready to put it on it's roof? If so, you are the man. I couldnt do it.
BTW, is Dover still known by its old nickname?

Thats the one. I remember when the only cars you saw in Dover were slammed Toyota Corolla's with the LOCAL MOTION sticker in the rear window.
I have a crazy Uncle who still lives in Hopatcong, on the lake. I think the mercury in the water has damaged his brain.

I think after this long, and the aproach with the truck to finaly wheel it... I somehow don't think that is top priority anymore..

BTW.. Sweet job so far, I do hope you are going to tone down that paint scheme a tad though I like the bed liner spray.. I have been thinking about doing my sliders in it.. (some of that cheap spray can stuff.. The spray can don't last long, and I am too cheap for powder coat for something made to hit rocks...

"finally wheel it"...well you're kinda off on that statement. Before it was a "show truck" it was my daily driver on first 31's, then 35's, then 39.5's. I used to wheel it before it was painted, nothing overly hardcore, but how hardcore can you get with 35's-39.5's and IFS? As far as toning down the paint job, that's kinda why I am doing the black spray-on-bedliner. The rattle can stuff is okay, that is what I have on my front bumper and grill on my '94. You've seen my '94, remember? I asked you for pics of your snorkel...

Anyway, are you going to the TTORA event in May...or the EC4RJ'03 in June?? I'll see you there if you are going. And you are more than welcome to stay with me at my Dad's vacation house in Mt. Pocono about 20 min. from Paragon. Just let me know.

Thanks again to everyone's comments.

more pics....

Well, I was in the shop again today...here are the results.

The rear bumper is all done and getting ready to be mounted. And NO, it's not an AllPro bumper. Same general design, BUT this one was fabricated out of 2" DOM tubing and 1/4" angle...much beefier than AllPro's, sorry Jon.

...and here it is on the 4Runner.

You can see it has mounts through the frame and on the side of the frame. A total of 6 bolts with 4 mounting locations. BEEFY.

And last one for now, the hood with the spray-on-bedliner and the grill and parking lights painted black. Oh, and the sliders are one too.

Thanks again for the comments.

IS ANYONE FROM THIS BOARD GOING TO THE TTORA TAKEOVER @ PARAGON IN MAY, OR THE EC4RJ'03 IN JUNE??????? LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE.

Later.

Hello????? Does anyone on this board actually wheel? Seems you are more concerned about how many batteries to put in your Maglite...or what percent window tint to do...I'm not knocking that, just wondering.

Whatever.

I'll reply since nobody else is

I am not going to either event because I am waaaaayyyyyy down here in Florida. I would love to go and meet everybody, but my budget and distance do not allow it

So, that's all. By the way, I like your 4runner and think it will rock out when you're done with it. Can't wait to see pics of it in action

No, I get the feeling that most on this board do not wheel. This is Yotatech, not Yotawheelin. To find a dedicated wheeling board you will need to go to 4x4Wire or better yet, Pirate4x4. I don't recommend posting pics of your truck on the latter unless you feel like you need another defecation orifice.

What would it take for you to paint the rest of the truck one color and paint the axles black? Whatever it is I'd say it is worth it. Perhaps redo the interior? I mean the truck has come a LONG way from super heinous street queen, but it still has a serious case of the uglies.

I will definately be at the EC4RJ testing out the new setup. Could possibly make the TTORA run but I'm not sure. It will be interesting to see how a show truck does off road. It will definately be worth taking some pics of as I will probably never see it happen again...

Greg, we have a section here at YotaTech where the off road events are planned.
That is where you will find most of the "talk" going on about runs.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/foru...?s=&forumid=15

There also have been many in the SUV section here that have said they will be at the EC4RJ this summer.
It's archived here in other posts in this same section.

And yes many do wheel here.
I see pics being posted just about every weekend from somewhere where someone has gone out.

But if you look in the Off Road section here, you will see many past runs complete with pics & videos.
You just have to look

44Runner: I wasn't looking for a dedicated wheeling board, just asking the question. I do go to 4x4Wire and Pirate...and some others, and yes I get ribbing from the Pirate guys, so what, they are on the West Coast and are "into" body damage. As far as painting the truck one color and the axles black....let's just say I want people to know that it is the same truck that was featured in OffRoad, Tough Trucks & Fourwheeler magazine. Axles black...what difference does that make? And your "street queen" statement is way off base. Okay, I didn't wheel the truck really on 44's, but it's been wheeled before that and is and was certainly never a trailer queen. I'm not even sure why I am explaining myself here? I look forward to seeing you at EC4RJ'03, it should be fun...in fact, that is WHY I "re-posted" to my thread, to see WHO was going, not to get into yet another pissing match as to why my truck is a show truck and am I going to scratch it. It will be interesting to see how an EXshow truck does offroad with a 117:1 crawl ratio. I hope you do take some pics...you will only never see it happen again if you are not at an event that I am at. Sorry if I am coming across with an attitude...it's my nature to be defensive, can you blame me. Sorry. Friends?

I'm going to EC4RJ. Hoping to have my custom bumpers done and rear locker in by then. I'll probably still be on 32's though
