I saw an interview of that truck's owner at the kickoff party at the Portofino in Redondo Beach. He did a walk around that was an eye opener about the limitations of the current, readily available alternative fuel sources. The back was absolutely crammed full of big LP tanks. Even then, he said his range (from memory) was only about 150 miles. He had a big LP support truck around the corner following him along the route.

He's a true promoter, starry-eyed and full of optimism. To me it seemed about as practical as the guy in Telluride running his pickup on donut shop oil. At least that's probably more readily available than LP along the highway, and smells good, too. Nice paint job, though.

Ya, there was actually a show about these guys on TV yesterday (Discovery channel I think). It is pretty neat stuff, but ya, like BT17R said above, there are still quite a few limitations. One guy was running a Dodge 3500 Dualie off propane and got 40 mpg!!!

Europeans have been running cars on LP for years. They actually have fueling stations that refill LP tanks. It is cheaper and delivers a more efficient burn than gasoline since it is in vapor form. 150 miles sounds very low.
