I've got the Firestone Destinations too, they rock. You've got 12.5" s on a 7" rim??? What's going to happen when you deflate for wheeling? I've got 31" x 10.5" on a 6" rim and think I may go get 8" just so I dont blow the bead when I deflate. Does anyone have any experience with this?

 

There are a few poeple running 33ish-inch tires on 7" rims. General consensus is there are no problems as long as you don't go super soft. My previous tires were 32s on the same 7" rims. I aired down to 12-15PSI when wheeling and never had any problems. I'm thinking 15-20PSI should be fine with the 33s... just gotta be careful and see how things go.

4.5 lift (2.5" OME, 1"cornfed front spacer, and 2" RB bl) Stubbs sliders

How does that work? I add that up and I get at least 4.5" of lift, if not more? How much lift are you actually getting out of that 1" CF spacer? What OMEs do you have up front? How is your CV angle with 305s? I've got the exact same lift as you seemingly w/o the 1" cornfed, but I bet I got 882s and you don't. Just looking at options to go to 315s on down the road. Thanks!

Yea... I debating about what I want to do. I know I can do some griding to alleviate (sp?) the rubbing on the road, but I think it would take some significant grinding to avoid any rubbing off road. I'm pretty sure a BL is the best answer... now, 1" or 2...

 

I agree with Sabre, that looks very BEEFY. Nice job, I am glad your site is back up again. I refer to it often. I am still in the 32" tire club. I really like what you have done to your 4Runner.

 

FYI: We just got back from Tellico and with 285/75/16s and OME 882/N91s up front and 891/N86s in the back AND a 2" body lift, I still rub quite a bit on the backside of the fender well when stuffed and turning - more trimming to follow even as I trimmed some mid trail. I don't know if some Inland A arms would help this or if I'm just going to have to hack on the fender wells some more, perhaps both.

The other issue I see is that if you do a body lift of 1" it will fix your sliders that bang on the pinch weld, seems like I remember that being an issue, but if you go 2" body lift it migth look a bit awkward. I'd still vote for the 2" body lift and see how the sliders look and reweld them if necessary cause the more clearance you got for those tires the better, especially since you are running a 305.

IMO stepping up from a 32 makes a big difference in the stance and looks of your rig, big difference!

 

1" BL is a piece of cake a 2" is alot more work. 1" is all I would run personally.

 

Yea... I'm leaning towars the 1" BL right now, basically for aesthetic reasons. I don't want a huge gap between the body and my sliders or my TJM. The 1" BL should be enough to eliminate all rubbing up front, but I'll still rub in the back at least a little, but only when stuffed. I figure I can trim/bang/grind things enough to get me past that if necessary.

 

Yea... that's what I've heard. Another reason I'm leaning towards the 1"er.

On a side note... it looks like I might be in Tucson for Thanksgiving. If you are planning on doing any holiday wheeling and I can get away from the family, I'd love to ride along with you... see what things are like out there... if ya don't mind.

 

4Runner4Me's rig is pristine. And it'll stay that way. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to convince him to wheel with us, and as such, nothing's gonna rub his wheel wells!

Other than the ARB up front and the gap, which I will eventually fix, I can't imagine the 2" body lift being any more difficult than the 1" one, especially since it is aesthetic issues and not functional ones. Am I missing something here?

 

I believe you have to extend various things to clear the 2" BL... brake lines, shift cables, steering, etc.

 

Nothing but pucks and a steering extension, at least I didn't do anything else.

 

Guys, wide tires on narrow wheels makes it harder to lose a bead. I ran 12.50's on 7" wheels at single digit pressures a lot. When the wheel is narrower the bead has more pressure on it. Wide wheels suck

The tires look sweet. I have a friend who has a set of 305 70 R16 tires that have been up for grabs for quite some time. He's selling cheap so I may have to get them after seeing your rig. I just need another set of rims. I can't understand how you aren't getting tons of rubbing with the backspacing of the stock wheels.
