Mounting aux back up lights on rack ???
#1
I want to add some high level back up lights to my roof basket. I will fab some brackets
but here are my questions.
* What light pattern works best ? I would think a flood type would be ideal but perhaps a fog lamp that only fires down may be good as lamp
* Do most folks route the cable down inside the rear hatchback/liftgate seal area ???
* Is there a flat style ribbon cable out there that is durable , waterproof and UV resistant ?
I will wire it on a 3 way, center off switch so one position goes on with the back up lamps and the other is manual.
Thanks for your help.

I use Hella 500 fogs for my setup. They work great. I don't need them to cover a big distance, so I've got them aimed down at about a 30degree angle. The fog beam works great as it's nice and wide - comes in very handing when backing up in tight quarters. I run the wires for all the lights inside the hatch. I use regular (but fairly high quality) wiring from an electrical supply store.

I think the only thing I will do is utilize a nice high quality exterior grade disconnect so I can remove the basket to clean etc without having to remove lights...
