Weve got a grain scale in my town that i weighed my mopar at before i began the rebuild, Im finally putting the new engine and tranny in after two years but during that time ive been taking out stuff to save weight. im interested in just how much it will equal up to. I kinda wish i had have weighed everything with a bathroom scale before i threw it out to know the real difference.

One year we took a 2" hole saw to a VW bug body and turned the interior panels into swiss cheese, then put my friends engine in it for the event "The Bug In" it went high 10's for the 1/4 mile. Removed all the glass and installed Lexan, from the outside, it looked stock, but the insdie had almost nothing.........

Oh fer cryin out loud! There are no "performance upgrades" that do not cost money. Lightening it up the way you listed will not help your performance one bit! Even if you take the backseats out you will not go any faster (Not enough that anyone would notice it anyway) or 4Wheel any better. And Corbeau seats will cost WAY more than for example a header, which WILL help your performance. Just use it the way it is and save some money when you can to improve it later.

No worries. That didn't read right, I shoulda put a big smilie in front of it... I understand the 'project wants' and short wallet issues, had em all my life. As I make more money my projects just get more expensive and I STILL can't afford to do what I want...

*Remove the back hatch and put one of those gator nets across the back that you often see used on pickups that have removed their tailgate.
*Remove your sunglasses & garage door opener from the holder.
*Remove the radio and sing to yourself.
*Take the door off the glove compartment and discard any of its contents.
*This is fun...still thinking of others... I am like the guy above who seems to always be adding weight to my Runner...

I used to tell people to cut out the junk food and start running if they want to save some weight in the car.

Since you want to drive around town you probably won't need the boxed frame. You can cut on side out and make a U channel frame.

Don't recommed actuall doing this though

Yeah, it's just like when a buddy of mine was about to spend a small fortune on a new bicycle because it was like 5 pounds lighter than the one he had. I told him it wasn't the 19 pound bicycle that was causing him to be out of breath at the top of the hill, it was more likely his 200 pound butt. He was not amused....

On sailboats, weight is the enemy. Some of the top money guys even put in a carbon toilet and have carbon utensils to save weight... We leave behind all the crap we don't need to save weight, but then carry 200 pounds of beer...

The roll-bar is only intended to protect the rear seat occupants, the cab bulkhead will protect the front seat occupants since it's formed metal as opposed to fiberglass like the removable top.

I have a factory 1st gen roll-bar I'd sell since we'll be replacing it with a full cage soon anyway... PM me if interested.

Will that roll bar be moderately easy to modify to fit a 2nd gen? I've seen it done for a 3rd, but I've not yet seen one for a 2nd gen...
