Maintenance light and warranty

I am a new owner of a 4-runner, and have just clicked over 5,000 miles. My MAINT light is on, indicating I need an oil change.

1. If I change my own oil, does this have an effect on my warranty?
2. How is the MAINT light reset?

1. As long as you keep a record of the oil changes you should be good. I keep receipts for oil and oil filter purchases and maintain a vehicle log indicating date changed and odometer readings.

2. The procedure for reseting the Maint light is in the owners manual.
