MAF sensor on 22RE

Just wanted to know where the MAF sensor is on a 22RE and if it can be cleaned. I found pics and cleaning methods on the search of the 3.0 V6 but can't find any of the 22RE.

22re uses a VFM or vain flow meter which is attached to the filter box (Metal thing attached to the plastic box and has the air tube on the other end). The more air that is pulled in, the further the spring loaded vain opens which moves a pot and sends the signal to the ecu. You can clean out the inside but it doesn't matter as much. The air in a MAF flows thru / over a piedo(sp) tube like device that can become dirty / clogged. Hope that helps.
