I don't think we should scare him off but he also could be a little more tactful and realize that there's a better approach for noobs than he took but banning makes us look like forum nazis and is better left to other boards.
If not a ban, then a warning. He DID break a rule. Uncalled for insults (calling someone a moron) don't seem to be what this board is about. There's a difference between not being tactful, and just flaming people for no reason. I think this board is a lot better than almost any other I've been on, because they're a little more strict about flaming. If all someone wants is to be an idiot and insult people, head to Offtopic.com.

The guy that had the clears in the first place obviously stockpiled the lights when they were cheep and waited untill they became rare to sell them. Check his other auctions, that's all the has. They guy that bought both sets might be playing the same game but its hard to imagine that they will ever sell for more than $338.

Yep, i did.
Check the eBay name and compare it to my user name here Total for those clears was $358 The other ones were $221 *ouch* But the sad thing is i dont even know if they will fit my '92. I emailed the 2nd highest bidder from the all clear lights http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT
and asked him if he wanted to buy them for my winning bid if they dont fit my Runner...he said he would BUT does anybody here know if they will or will not fit???
This bidder told me they wont but i have a hard time believing that. I bought the other "Hilux Surf" lights http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
because like "runninclean" said, i want to see which ones i want. I acutally put off other 'more important upgrades' just to get these lights.
To anyone here willing to spend as much as i did, i will be selling the set i dont use for the same price i won them at. I will keep everyone updated but while im waiting i need to know if tail lights are different after a 1992 Runner? I thought the lights are all the same from '90-'95....Im i wrong?

The difference is just the harness. You can use your current harness. I bought clear tails a couple years ago (for around 50 or so), I have a 94 and these were for the earlier ones. So almost a year after I bought the clears I painted them red one the bottom with Testors candy red and then with gloss.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/ive-finally-done-36067/

btw, they were shinier than the pics show.

AND OH YEAH, I don't have them anymore. Somebody hit them a couple months ago while I was in a grocery store. I've been back to amber ever since. ... i didn't realize that the price on ebay had gone up so much.

UNLESS somone can tell me how i can swap the clear and the amber parts. Cause the clear top is still intact.

anybody know who produced these in the first place? The full clears i mean.

Ahh that what i was thinking, thanks for the info.

After months of searching all i could find out is some company in Taiwan made them. Check out this shop in the UK http://www.powerfuluk.com/Toyota_Hi...Rear_Lights.htm
The main dude there (Simon) sells them for around $150 and he knows of another company thats makes different style clears. Call or email him. I was going to pursue these options untill i came across the ones on eBay. Good luck!

They will fit. I have 95' lights on my 91'. The plug on the wire harness is different so just use the old bulb socketts. BTW, the red bulbs the clears come with will only last a cuple weeks before the burn off. Get some replacements at a car specialty shop like I did and they will never fade. I also went for mirrored amber bulbs to maintain the white appearance.

Check this out http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
These are the other lights i bought and this seller has another pair up for auction. What worries me though, I asked him well before the auction that i won ended, if he had anymore...his reply was "no" but here he is selling a second pair right away...
i just hope there not the ones i already paid for.

I can Chime in for Japan. I finally found a catalog (all in Japanese of course) that list some tail lights for the 2GEN. Through a friend that speaks more Japanese than I do (read that none) I managed to get a set on order for mine. My receipt shows that they should be here sometime next week. When they come in I will let you folks here know. If the Catalog I saw was correct and the translation I was given then that companys has 2 verisions an all clear lens that requires colored lamps and a half clear half red that comes with the required amber turn light. They also cover both types of tail lamps the ones that have the back up light built in and the ones that dont which is most of what is in the states. I will you you folks know....I am sure we can get the supply line moving.....

Hey dragon, how much the ones with the backup light cost? If I'd change my taillights I'd need those!

Thanks,

David

lenses

i bought mine from a company directly like two years ago and i thought they were hard to find then so i took advantage and bought the upper lenses too I didnt do the turn signals cuz i found a triple bulb fog light that fit perfectly in the space but I will post some pics on here this weekend of my 88 4runner 22re the truck looks real good with them. I will try to remember where i got them from maybe they still have some I know the guy said until me he hadn't sold any in a long while plus the ones i got had like 3 inches of dust on them.
By the way the 90 & up tailights wont fit it but I only 80.00 plus shipping for my set of lenses they are totally clear too. Its definately a place in California somekind of import parts place I will do a search of my credit card statements i will find it.

Blizzard... What I have on order for me is a 3 light kit...the Japan Model has a amber light unit in the front fenders. I have not seen this light on any of the Canada or U.S. models. All Japan spec right hand drive cars have some type of amber turn signal light that can be seen from the side Some have them built in to the corner lamp up front (that wedge thing that sticks out, and some have the light unit in the fender in between the front door line and behind the front tire. So the 6 lamp kit has the 2 ea rear tail light with the half clear (amber bulb required) and half red set up (dual filiament clear 1 for brake one for park) and reverse lamp clear area/ The side marker turn lamp (amber bulb required) clear front turn signal unit (amber bulb required) The bulb requirements listed are for lawful operation in Japan. The kit is Yen 182,000 at a 1 yen equal 1 yen exchange rate it is $182.00 The catalog I was looking at had just the tail lights for Yen 132,000 they also had an offering for an all clear set up. Let me get mine in so I can post some pics.....And yes I know the light units are the same for both the U.S. and Japan models.....Over here the folks that do not have the high mount spare have put the light unit with the rev light and then turned the normal in the tail gate lights into some off roading lights for the back...pretty handy ideal......At any rate after I get mine in I might be able to figure out who is making them and how you folks in the States can order direct.....

I found some that will fit I dont particularly like them really because they are Altezzas but in any case they are new and look better than orange stingy taillights.
