looking at a 2001......

i need to upgrade from my 93 p/u. i am going to look at a 2001 ext cab 4x4, 4cyl 5 spd. excactly the truck i am looking for. has 100k on the clock. what should i look over real closely on this truck? i know the frames can be an issue, is there any specific area on the frame to look at more so than others? with 100k on the odo, should i be asking about the timing chain (or belt?) on this truck? when should the original be changed? is it the time consuming deal like with the 22re? dont really know much about the 2.7, but have been elbow deep in my 22re. thanks for any input.

they dont have a tbelt. just a chain so no worries till over 200k miles or so.. look for leaks, look for service records (very important), check fluids, drive it around a bit, etc etc

personally i look over a vehicle to the T! and drive it.. test the 4x4 also. ask a bunch of questions too

I just bought a 02 3.4 with 113K
and everything looks good, it should be good to go for another 100k
You will need some tuneup stuff and mis. other stuff soon at the 100K mark.

the 2.7s are nice motors, easily compareable to the 22re in many ways.
Timing chain, easy to work on..
now it compares to the 3.slo in one way, both have 150 hp stock
Ha.
