locker motor killing battery?
so this is the second time since i swapped a locker into my new 4runner ive left my diff lock button depressed while parked for a good period of time. when i got back to the 4runner, battery was dead and we had to push start it. would the motor for the electric locker if left on for about an hour or two drain the battery? if so would i be able to wire the two power wires as shown in the diagram to a relay tapped to the ignition circuit or does the locker need constant power to keep it engaged?

The locker does not need constant power to keep it engaged, once it's locked the motor shouldn't draw any power. Are you using the factory diff lock ecu, because in mine the 2 wires powering the locker circuit are only live in when the ignition is on.

im using the factory ecu but i did not attach the 2 wires on the circuit to a relay tapped into the ignition circuit. they have power at all times. i'm probably gong to go about doing that now i know it doesnt need constant power to keep it engaged. is it possible the battery drain was from the locker motor trying to fully lock the diff when things weren't lined up in the diff as a result of pressing the button when parked?

Could be, or maybe there is a slight power drain through the motor even if it looks off. Change the wires so they aren't always live and it should be OK.
