Limiter?

On gadgets web site, he says that the limiter is originally at about 108mph. I have a '98 and i cant get mine over about 97? What's the deal? Is this my limiter, or do i just not have enough power to go any faster?

It could be a number of things. Do you have larger tires? If so, your speedometer won't be accurate at higher speeds. So, you may actually be going 105mph, but your speedometer only shows 97.

Yeah, I actually do have larger tires. They are 265/75/R16. Do you think that it would make that much of a difference?

It did on mine. I've got the exact same tires as you. It used to be a real bear on the highway until I installed the supercharger. Now, with all the other mods including having the limiter removed from the ECU, I can whip passed 110!

I believe your speedo will be off by approximately 3% so in your case, 97 * 1.03 = 99.

How did you remove the Limiter from the ECU?

I sent my ECU to E.L. Prototypes
They will add an E-PROM to the existing board that has been programmed to any modifications you have made. In the process, they can increase your injector duty cycle, remove the limiter, and a few other things. The first program is $789. I called them a few days ago because I want to send my ECu to them again and have them play with the timing for the 9 lb s/c pulley, and increase the duty cycle for my 305cc injectors. They told me it would only cost $100 second time around because all the major labor has already been performed from the first go.

EL Prototypes seem to know what they're talking about. I will be sending my heads to them this spring to have them ported, polished, and have new cams, valves, and springs installed. The guy I spoke to said I stand to gain at least 20 hp for $1600.
I was going to send them to MaxxAuto, but after Gadget's post, I don't think so.

IMO, I would wait to have your ECU reprogrammed until after you install a supercharger.
