I see you're running the 882's without a new bumper, how are your angles?

 

Yes it makes a noticeable difference. And, if you went from stock to 882's I can't believe that you are even close to specs.

I was running 882's...but I had them mounted on some Bils (stock lenght) so they weren't able to extend completely so I only got about 2.5" and they actually settled to 2" in about 1000 miles. But I do have a heavy front skid plate, a supercharger, and heavy sliders. So it's about 150 lbs over stock weight in the front.

 

Seems like maybe I should have an another shop check my alignment. It doesn't pull or anything at all. I'll see what another place says.

Maybe it's relevant to say that my truck DID pull hard to the right prior to the lift.

 

Looks good, I've always been a fan of the black rims, on any color....they just look alot better.

Cool rig...sounds like a TJM is in order with all the comments about the 882s.

 

We'll see about a bumper after I get another opinion about the alignment. To tell you the truth, It doesn't pull at all anymore. However, It's obvious that my tires are riding on the outside edge..they're actually tilted outwards. That alone tells me it needs an alignment. IF the CV's get bad, I'll have to do something.

I guess I'll cross that bridge sooner or later. I do have to make a 2k mile trip to Wyoming and back at the end of the month, so I'm a little nervous.

How much does a grill guard weigh? That sounds more feasible to me.

 

I'm sure there is one in the classifieds... There are people realizing that they do absolutely nothing except ask for more dammage in an accident all the time. Though, I must say do kinda look "tough". If you run into cv problems I would get some manual hubs before getting a brushguard. You will come arond on their looks eventually. I used to hate them and look at my truck now. Who'd a thought... You are off to a really good start with your truck, lets see you get rid of that chrome! Ive been wanting to see an all black pre 99 runner. Rabbit's didn't count b/c he had the bloated bumper on the front. Now he's taken care of it and his truck is one of the best looking ive seen. Get skid plates, use sand bags or something, but please don't get a brush guard. Why put something on there that will hamper you when you have just spent all that money to make it trail ready?

So it seems that manual hubs are the way to go.. BUT.. I used to have them in my Pathfinder and HATED getting out and turning a hub. I guess I could get used to it again though.

Aren't I looking at $700+ for that? Could I install it myself?

Should I get manual hubs or a bumper? I'm leaning towards hubs, because thats nearly a surefire solution. How difficult is the install? If I did the lift, could I do the hubs?

 

You don't HAVE to turn the hubs. Your button in the truck will still take you in and out of 4x4 just when you leave the trails or hell even when you get home unlock them after you wash her down (and once before you hit the trail of course). If you lock them it will preform just like it is now. You just have the capability of unlocking them (ie not turning all that drivetrain when your on the pavement). I don't know cost and how hard as I have not looked into it myself. But, I'm pretty sure you can do some junk yard diving and save some money. Or you could just buy the kit but I know it isn't too cheap. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

I also will say that the stock bumper plain and simple sucks though. My TJM has saved me a few times now and love it. You can pick up a T17 (without the hoops) pretty cheap these days through mike at xtremeoff-road.com tell him your a yotatech member! Plus, then you'll have a reason to get rid of those useless "driving" lights and mount some hellas!

A TJM isn't air bag friendly though, right? I really DON'T wanna be just like Wasilly (btw his rig is AWESOME), though chances are I'll NEVER see him in person anyways.

I do however, LOVE the ARB Sahara Bar. I hope Mike can get one for me. Looks like I'll be going that route.

Hubs would be a better solution, but after seeing the Sahara bar I'm now SOLD on the bumper idea (even though I used to dislike them!).

My TJM was only $660, shipped! I'd never pay that for a bumper!! God, if you are going to pay that much I'd get a t17 and some skid plates. That will definately weigh it down and you won't have to worry about a thing then (well... a whole lot less...)

 

But I dont want some REGULAR ole bumper..haha

I want the COOLEST bumper!

Besides, it needs to be air bag compliant.

 

OOOh, you want THAAAT one. Why not get the one with lx470 signals in it with fogs! then you really would be the only one with those!

also, its not that the tjms are not going to make the airbags go off, its just not tested.
