What is the estimated life (in hours) of the bulbs?

I'll be installing HIDs in my 4Runner as well. I'm too used to having them in my Audi. You did a real nice job on your install.

HIDs are supposed to have 4-5 times the life of normal halogen bulbs.

Although my budget is tight, it justified my spending for this mod (=4 PIAA bulbs trashed every year)

I used those Casper HID shields and I didn't even need to glue the HID bulbs into them. The clip that holds the H4 bulb in held the HID bulb and the shield in.

My PIAA Xtreme whites just blew out, and I had to return to factory bulbs. You couldnt have done this at a better time. I think im going to do this in the next few weeks. Great job.

What is the advantage to using a projector with the HID's, such as what you would see on the newer Audi's? I'm guessing a cleaner allumination, but more cost/modifying involved.

Volcom,

Newer Audis use a projector type lens on their HIDs. Most projectors, aftermarket and OEM come with a built in shield that limits how much light goes through the projector. Like the casper shield, it will only allow, for example, 50% of the light to be emitted. The projector will also have a cleaner beam pattern as compared to a 'sealed beam' type housing. If you guys are looking for lights, my buddy has 50W ballasts and a full range of bulbs for upgrades. Stock ballasts on Audis and such are 35W.

His name is Dan. Tell him Fred/Vtec_Killer from the Audiworld boards sent you. His page is supremepowerparts.com.

i just installed hid lights on my is250 2011. installation was long but easy. i follow a video on youtube how to remove the bumper and then i reach the bulb and the it was easy. the hid kit cost me 110$ and i took the canbus 55w 8000k. My hid kit work perfectly and even better than the oem hid from the dealership. If anyone have any question on the installation or where i bought my hid kit, feel free to ask. I recommend everyone to put xenon lights on they car. its better for night driving and offer a really nice look to they car.
