I stopped by AutoZone yesterday and asked them to hook up their OBDII reader to Sherpa to determine why my check engine light was on. The code came back "Left Bank Lean". Now why would this be if I haven't changed anything on the vehicle? I can say the engine isn't running as smoothly as it has in the past, with some definite power gaps as I try to accelerate through the rpm range, but overall it still runs fine. Gas mileage hasn't gotten any worse than normal.

Would a dying fuel injector cause this error code?

Before you do anything expensive, clean your MAF and check to see how dirty your air-filter is (depending what type it is, clean it or replace it if it's very dirty). I had the same code come up, this was the cure I read on 4x4 Wire and it worked.

I'm running the AmsOil air filter, and it has been several thousand miles since I oiled it, so I doubt it is the filter itself. I have never cleaned my MAF... I probably should have done that a long time ago, but didn't get around to it. It is a real hassel trying to get some of those fittings loose.

I wonder if cleaning the MAF will reduce the surging effect I have when at high throttle/high rpm situations.
