LED Bulb in Shifter...

Hey, Im a newb here but ive found tons of mod help in your info here... My question, to anyone, is how to get to the bulb in the shifter. Ive replaced my A/C gauge lights with leds and im going to tackle the gauge cluster next but I wanted to do the shifter as well. Can someone walk me through that one. Im gonna feel like a royal idiot if its as simple as the A/C dash area was... Thanks! Cheers!

By the way Im in a 98 Limited 4Runner... 4wd, automatic. Thanks!

Pictures are better than words!

No worries, when I changed out the bulbs I couldn't figure it out either... Once I did I felt pretty stupid!

Haha... that doesnt look as hard as I was hoping it would be... for my prides sake at least... Thanks for the info. Ill post pictures of my 4runner when i finish the lights.

The problem with leds is that once you replace one section you have to do the rest because it just doesnt look right unless it all matches...

Thanks again for the pictures... It sure beats staring at a bunch of wires and a shifter wondering how to get from A to B.

how many bulbs (and of what sizes) would you need to do a full dash?

I was also thinking about putting white in mine. With either blue or red everywhere else.

Do you like how it turned out?

Im happy with it, although i wish i could do something about the digital clock... Im not sure there is much to be done there...

And Im going to do the dome lights next... Like I said earlier. Once youve done one part of the truck, the rest looks a little more dingy in comparison. Well worth the trouble and about $30 out of pocket.

Autolumination has a lot more varities of LED's to choose from. That's where I buy my LED's.

I really like the white! Looks good man. I've gone the blue route, and I love it, but now I'm trying to convince my sister to do white in her 4Runner. She's got the wood trim so white would definitely make it look very classy...

I noticed your A/C switch is still green... you can switch that out w/ a neo-wedge, unless you like it green! If I remember right they are the Type A neo-wedge from autolumination. You can use the same for the rear defroster as well.
