Leaking roof
My 96 4runner is leaking somewhere. It is minor and isn't dropping drops of water yet. But i looked over toward the passenger seat handle above the window, and noticed was darker by the trim and around the handle.
So reached over and felt it and it was wet. Looking harder i noticed that it goes from the windshield all the back to half past the rear passenger window then stops. Then in the far back window in the passenger side there is another ~2 in section that is wet.
Seems really strange to me. I checked all the seals around the doors, but i don't really know what to look for other than a tear, which i don't see any of.
Could this be caused from something else like my sun roof?
Any help would be great

Not sure if the roof construction is the same on all years, but on our previous '98, the cause of the leak was the rails on the roof where a roof rack would mount.
This may not be the best description, but here goes: if you don't have roof racks (factory), you have two black plastic strips going front - back on top of your roof. Those plastic strips are prone to cracking/fading. They are held on by screws. If the plastic cracks around the screws or the screws rust out, water can seep in through those holes, run down along the side of the headliner, and come out on the lowest point. For us, it was above the passenger side window since we park on a hill facing down. The dealer replaced the black plastic strip that was cracked and the screws that hold it down, and all was well.
Hope this helps,
Merlin

I do have a roof rack. I think my roof rails are stock, but the rack isn't. I think the yakima rack is just put into the stock rails. Can't say for sure because it was like that when i bought it. Nonetheless i will take it off and see what it looks like.
I will also check on the drain rails. Do you know where those are seanz0rz
