leaking differential ....breather is fine

it's leaking right at the very bottom where the solid part of the axle is connected to the thing the drive shaft goes into (not sure what that part is called between the drive shaft and the axle....but it's the big round seal next to the axle that is leaking ..not the pinion seal) it appears that that gasket is made of some kind of paper because i can see some if it sticking down....almost like it was replaced before and wasn't aligned properly. i tried tightening down the nuts/bolts but it's still leaking

how much can i expect to pay to have that seal replaced. ...and is there a better seal to use other than one that is made of paper?

thanks in advance!

it's definatly the diff. seal. ...i already did a search and all i found was to check the diff. vent and it appears to be fine.

i'm not sure what the 3rd memeber is. ..is it the cone shaped part that bolts on to the axle that the drive shaft goes into?

I paid around $200 to get the third removed and a bolt replaced. I'd imagine that it would be about the same amount to replace the gasket.
