Labor rate - damn!

$379 for my 30k check up. Why you ask? Very good question. $78 an hr labor rate! ˟˟˟˟˟˟in A!!!

On the filp side, so I can stay sane, the tranny flush is included in this price. My jaw first droped when I heard the price and thought the flush was yet to be included.

This is including that I already did the engine oil, both differentials, transfer case and engine coolant.

Please don't get too angry at me, I really didn't have a choice, I needed to get this done now and options are limited.

Don't remember off hand. It's in our service manual though. Pretty much check over the whole truck, re-tork (bad spelling) and re-lube what needs to be. Tire rotation, T-flush, yada yda blah blah.

Plus, I am having a little warranty work done. I have 2k miles left before my warranty expires.

Alright, just got off the phone with the sealership. The tech says that I am maintaining the vechile in very good condition. Aww, how sweet of him. anyway, they recommend a fuel injector cleaning for another $200. I think I will wait until 60k for that. when I will also replace the fuel filter (myself that is). $400 is enought to swollow. Another two bills? Can't do it.

Man, they're raking you over the coals! My opinion- screw the injector cleaning, there are a couple of additives that people have used here with great results, and a vehicle with only 30k shouldn't have that bad injectors yet. The fuel filters are supposed to be lifetime filters, although I'm looking at changing mine soon at 50 k for piece of mind. I know its tough to be in the city doing car repair on the street- its bad enough for me in Seattle, but there are alot of basic things you can do (it sounds like you've already replaced some fluids yourself). Any of the service items could probably be done by yourself, and if you're not sure, ask around on the board- this is a huge wealth of information!

Oh yeah, I'm good to go. But to have a Toyota tech go over all the nuts & bolts, every 30k, I'll do it. Other than that, no one touches my ride.

Well you did better than me. I just had my 30k and it ran about $1300 I'm still walking funny after taking that one in the...

$300 for 30k
$80 for trans flush
$100 or so for all Mobil1 fluid (ATF, oil, diffs, transfer)
$80 balancing tires

They *found* a nail in one tire (while doing the balance) and wanted another $120 for a replacement Dunlop. No thanks. So $550 or so for 4 Bridgestone Revos.

However, when doing the alignment, firestone couldn't move one of the tie rods. Back to dealer for warranty. But no, they blamed it on bad workmanship. Another $200 to fix the tie rod and do an alignment.

Let's recap what you get for this money:
1. Dealer claims to drop the pain for flush - not true
2. underfill the oil
3. underfill the coolant
4. overfill steering (but claim didn't touch it)

This is what you get when you think it is a good idea to get the truck checked while still in warranty

Basically, I hope the bleeding will stop soon.

Yeah, its at least $85 over this way, more from the dealer. Almost everything in the 30K service can be done at home too, that's the killer.

I'm in N. VA.

I went to Ourisman Chantilly Toyota. They are cheaper than the other N. VA dealers I am writing a letter to Service manager detailing my experiences.

In N. Va you have:
- Kay Jennings Springfield Toyota - very bad experiences (Chantilly fixed their mistakes)
- Koons Tysons Toyota - usually more expensive
- Ourisman Fairfax Toyota - were great for my old truck, but haven't used them for my 4Runner
- Manassas - seemed ok, but a bit far for me
- Woodbridge - I don't think so
