K&N Generation II Performance Kit for a 4cyl.

Well I'm obviously in need of some power with the 4 banger under the hood. I did some searching and found most people did some simple (and cheap) mods instead of dishing out the cash for this one. I've decided to just spend the money and know it's done right. Anyone ever put this kit in a 3rd Gen. 4 cyl? For the money, I expect a good bit more power. Any reviews for this kit would be greatly appreciated.

And here's a link

You might want to read this before you spend that money:

Well I never read that. :pat: Well that sucks, I'm running out of ideas! I guess nothing is as simple as it should be.

The best mod I have done so far for my 2.7L 4 cylinder was the elbow mod. Now my engine really comes alive between 3-5K RPM. I have been thinking about an LC or Downey header, too. Alpine and TRD make a supercharger kit for the 2.7 that is worth considering, too.

I added a K&N drop in filter only .I used my Runner as a commuter vehicle and hockey gear mover .Most mods I have read about are a waste of money .If you need more power you should have bought a six.

the elbow removal (or flush cut the elbow piece inside the fender wall is what i did) plus a high flow air filter (K&N or Amsoil) improves the perfomance slightly. also an electric fan. thats all i've done so far, and the result is a little better throttle response and revs up to 5k rpm a little faster and easier. all worthwhile, since they only add up to a few franklins.

i'm considering the intake silencer removal now. anyone have any experience with that on the 2.7L engine? i figure that would be about it for intake mods.

headers, hi-flo cat, catback coming soon-
