Smile Just performed quick tune-up, special thanks...

Well I decided to replace my fuel filter & spark plugs this evening and I wanted to give a shout out to some special people....

First, special thanks go to the Toyota mechanic who cross-threaded the outlet fitting on the fuel filter. You know, the one that's above the cross member so you get to flip your open end wrench over and over about 50-60 times.

Second, thanks to Fram for making their replacement fuel filter just a little larger diameter than the OEM so now I need to either get a longer bolt for the clamp, or buy an OEM filter & do the job over again.

Last, but not least, the Toyota engineers who routed numerous hoses, wires & brackets blocking easy access to the spark plugs. You allowed me to make a quick trip to Sears, shortly before closing, to buy the wobble extensions have been wanting but could never justify.

Now on a serious note... Truly thanks to all those on the forum who take the time to take pictures & do write ups for the rest of us without the patience to do so. Although I didn't need any for this job, I have a cup holder console on the way & will soon be getting proper cup holders!!!

Thanks to all on the forums,
Paul

Sorry, I got what I could. Local Toyota parts departments all close before I get off work, but I think I'm going to get an OEM & replace it again. After all, that special smell of gasoline on my arms will go away after only a few days....

Thats why you disconnect the fuel pump plug and run the motor till it dies to bleed the lines :hilbill:

I've done that in the past but it didn't make much difference, there is still a fair amount that remains in the filter. It wouldn't have been a problem if the front flare nut hadn't been cross-threaded by the factory or previous mechanic.
