Upgrade the master WTF?
Have you priced out a MC lately? Besides from the leg work, I did it, appears the 1st Gen Tundras with the 199mm caliper and the V6 got the same MC as '01-'02 Runners. The piston diameter on the 199mm caliper is the same as the stock Runners so the ▲volume to create the same amount of pressure on the pads is = (at least purdy damn close).
When I did mine I started in the rear by replacing the lines with extended stainless steel. I freed up the adjusters and adjusted the shoes and commenced to bleeding the rear. The rear went painfully slow and since I had a coupon from the dealer for a brake system flush, I figured I'd get it "good enough" and then take her in and let them deal with it. I moved on to the front. Fronts went on with out a hitch and they practically bled them self by gravity. I went back and did the rears and this time they bled fine.
After beding them in, pedal travel has decreased and has firmed up a-lot. Not harsh or touchy, but the way it should feel right from the get-go IMHO.
When I started the swap I found some OEM take offs for cheap and planned on rebuilding. I nabbed 2 of the last 25 (at that time) piston rebuild kits from Toyota for $11 or $12 bucks each. I then started pricing out the other parts I needed......What The ****..........so I started looking at the aftermarket. With some research by my parts guy we found out that Akebono was one of the OEM suppliers for the Tundra calipers. I ordered the Akebono Pro-Act loaded calipers w/ Pro-Act pads. I got more back from the core charge than I paid for the take offs, so I came out $20 a head than if bought all the parts I needed individually.
I highly recommend the Akebono stuff. The combination of the Pro-Act pads, the DBA (Disk Brake Australia) 4000 Kangaroo Paw slotted rotors and Goodridge lines is a winner
. :fingers crossed: Hopefully no more warped rotors

BTW, if you go with SS brake lines the Tacoma lines are the ones you want. EZ bolt on with no mods. I got mine from Wheelers.
