Have you run the hammers yet? I have to get out there one of these days. While I'm thinking of it, lemme ask you a question. How is it that you can run 315's with ~3" of lift but all the guys on TTORA are running 35's on 9"? Is it a difference between the vehicle structures, or what? BTW, I still have my bag of rocks.

I really don't understand why you could not do the same thing with a Tacoma.

Josh, I dont think its vehicle structure either. Remember not more than a year ago we were all saying that you needed +6" on the 3rd gen runners to fit 35s (hence the reason I ran 5.5 and 33s). I think it just takes someone stubborn enough and patient enough to go through the testing without just scrapping the whole damn thing for IFS. You should be able to come up with something for the Taco.

All you have to do is cut the fenders back 1" and bob the ends of the front bumper. It's not really all that hard, but most folks want to lift and cutting sounds like they will wreck the truck, you can't even tell where I cut it.

I may have old junk, but I think this hit it right on the head. I have long wondered why Tacos were going with super lift, as in more than a foot, to run 35's. If you wheel it, trimming is not bad and a lower center of gravity makes a ton of difference versus super lift and no width.

I did not mean to disparage ASU, I still have not heard from ASU, CSU, Boulder or UVA, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

If you do go to ASU you'll be wheeling twice a month. Once if it's a bad month, all year round.

Wow Bruce, I didn't think you would ever hit the mud again after you blew up your engine. :pat: I'll stick to rocks as much as possible, mud is too hard to clean.

??? more than a foot?? I think the accepted amount for 35's is more like 6" (i.e. TrailMaster 6" drop bracket kit, or 3" susp. + 3" body). When I was at AZRAIN's place, we were comparing his 3rd gen 4Runner wheel wells to my 2nd Gen Taco wheels wells, and there is more room in the 4Runner, albeit not that much. Trimming and modification helps a ton, and I agree that for a 'wheeling vehicle, it's very well worth it to keep the COG lower and the susp. working good.

Most SAS Tacos have at least 9" of lift and are running 35s...

I am running 35s with a little over 6" but my front axle is moved forward.

I had to test out the new snorkel, besides redeeming myself.... Yea it took me 5 hours to clean all the mud off. actually there was more mud on my rig before going through, the water helped clean off some of the thicker stuff.

It's fun doing lame things..... After we got back to the staging area, most left, 5 of us, including that truck went on to tackle some harder trails. At the first steep hill the lifted truck that was going through the mud turned around and left, he was too scared to attempt the climb.
