Same boat here. Mine spent a few years in Ohio too. This must be a requirement set by the Ohio DOT.

Good luck with the flip. I think its funny that both you and your GF are replacing "interiors" at the same time.

As promised, PICS of PROGRESS!!!

I didn't get any pics of the first night when the most noticable progress was made in disassembly. However, looking at the original thread tells you pretty well how I did.

On to the pics!

Interior stripped down; door panels have already been installed at this point:

Pic of said leather door panel:

notice the lack of...anything lol:

Right rear door panel; You can also see the custom flare on the door:

HUZZAH! Headliner! (had to modify a 98 headliner to fit...very easy to do):

mmmm Factory limited woodgrain and dual auto switches:

Eclipse stereo, Properly installed. Notice the factory brackets:

Visors installed; if you look closely, you can see the donor rig in the background, a 98 SR5 Supercharged E-locked 4runner!

The "oh, something appears to be awry" handles:

Commence drooling now:

Some more finish work:

Its like magic!! tada!!!:

OMG CARPET!!!:

More pics:

Limited center console installed:

Limited woodgrain package:

rear seating options!!!:

This is the reason there are no pics of the pass side; I simply couldn't install anything untill I got this stripped bolt out for the oh S handles. It was broken off flush. Luckily, it spun right out today:

Thats all the pics for now. Notice that the nest of wiring creeping up the drivers side A pillar is all gone. I cut out all the useless wiring, and removed the airhorn. If it wasn't factory, it is gone.

I should be able to button up the rest of the interior tomorrow, and will have pics when i do. I also have some BRAND NEW floor mats on order from Toyota, as well as a cargo cover from Tofer, so the interior will look pretty nice!

I think I will remove the steering wheel cover if I sell it, but for now I am keeping it on just to save it from wear and tear.

The silly pedal covers are coming right the hell off, that has to be my #1 most disliked mod.

Looking good man. Hope the leather wheel isn't chewed beneath that ghastly cover.

Nice work.. It looks like you had exactly the right parts to return that thing to it's original glory. I'm not sure why anyone would hack the interior of a perfectly good 4Runner like that.

When it gets detailed next wednesday, ill have pics of the whole package.

Fo: Black rims would indeed look great, but not in the budget either. Im considering going back to chrome on the grille and bumper. The front rhinoliner is peeling off, and I dont really care for the grill.

Also removed all the badging off the back, and ordered a BRAND NEW black pearl gate emblem!
I dunno man, I really like the black theme it's got going on. I personally wouldn't turn anything to chrome. Instead of getting new rims, you could always paint those black. But I'm sure whatever you decide to do, it'll turn out great!

Yea, i would have gotten black rims too. I may paint, but painting over chrome usually turns out bad.

Wow you are going to make a killing off that thing. You pretty much stole it from that guy. I'am very jealous of the deal you got! What is blue book on that like 10 or 12k?

Finished up the interior tonight, and the gate rebuilt. Sure looks sharp!

I dont have any pics, as its raining to beat hell here. But if its nice tomorrow ill snap a few.

the front lights are currently not hooked up, so thats the next project. I plan on using a factory 1989 toyota Van fog light switch, and a KC wiring kit. It will look and operate 100% stock.

also have to replace the exhaust, the old exhaust is completely rusted out (DAMN YOU WINTER!!!)

I am also doing a Black Pearl emblem for the gate. I'll start a new thread on that, and how it turns out, since Testors no longer makes the Black Pearl paint that Bob calls for in his writeup (http://4runners.org/writeups/blackpearl/index.html)

Iam really hopin for the black pearl write up. I want to do it for mine but I dont want to ruin the emblems. I have all gold and I hate them, also the gold ones are all oxcidized and nasty.

Got the front lights wired back in tonight, wiring looks great and STOCK (Just ask Tofer!)

Used a factory Toyota switch as planned, looks completely stock.

Tried to burn the truck down connecting the black wire to the red wire....Dont do that! Luckily Tofer was on hand to show me the error in my ways. Special thanks to him for bringing me up that cargo cover, and helping me with my wiring! And it gave me someone to chat with for a few hours.
